Choose Fresh Apples: Pick fresh, crisp apples for juicing. Sweet apples like Fuji or Gala will give a naturally sweet juice, while a mix of sweet and tart apples like Granny Smith can create a balanced flavor. Wash the Apples: Rinse the apples thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt, wax, or pesticide residue. If using non-organic apples, it’s recommended to peel them, as pesticides can sometimes remain on the skin. Core and Slice the Apples: Remove the cores and seeds from the apples using a corer or by cutting the apple into quarters and removing the core manually with a knife. Then, slice the apples into smaller pieces to fit them into your juicer or blender. Juicing the Apples: Juicer: If using a juicer, feed the apple slices into the machine and collect the fresh juice in a jug or bowl as it’s extracted. Blender: If using a blender, place the apple slices in the blender along with a small amount of water to help with blending. Blend until smooth. Strain the Juice: If using a juicer, your juice may already be smooth, but you can strain it further through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any pulp if desired. For blended apples, pour the mixture through a strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl, pressing down to extract all the juice. You may want to strain it twice for a smoother consistency. Add Flavor (Optional): For added flavor, you can stir in a splash of lemon juice to prevent browning and balance the sweetness. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon, a little grated ginger, or honey to enhance the taste. Serve: Pour the freshly squeezed apple juice into a glass and enjoy immediately. You can add ice cubes if you prefer a chilled drink. Storage: Fresh apple juice is best enjoyed right away. However, if you want to store it, pour the juice into an airtight container and refrigerate. It will last for 2-3 days, though fresh juice can oxidize and lose some nutrients over time.
